Privacy Policy & Terms of Service

SnapSensei ("the app", "we", "us") helps travelers understand photos of
menus, signs, machines, and everyday situations by generating an AI
explanation and a short phrase to show local staff. This page explains what
data the app handles and the terms under which you may use it. It is hosted
online so it can be kept current without requiring an app update.
Privacy Policy
1. What we process, and why

Photos you scan. When you take or choose a photo, the
image is sent to our processing backend and to Google's Gemini AI service
to generate the explanation and staff phrase, which are then shown to you.
Images are processed only to produce that result. We do not store
your photos on our servers after the request is processed.

Scan results on your device. The text of your results
(the explanation, phrases, and tips) is saved locally on your
device only, so you can review past scans. You can clear this
history at any time in Settings → Clear history. We do not receive a copy
of your on-device history.

Anonymous account identifier. The app signs you in with
an anonymous Firebase account — a random identifier with no
name, email, or contact details. We use it to enforce the daily
free-scan limit and to remember your Pro entitlement.

Usage and entitlement records. We store minimal records
tied to your anonymous identifier (e.g., your daily scan count and
whether Pro is active and until when) so the service works correctly.

Approximate location (optional). If you grant location
permission, the app detects your destination country on your
device. Only the resulting country (not your
coordinates) is sent with a scan, to tailor the local-language phrase. You
can decline and choose your destination manually instead.

Purchases. Subscriptions and passes are processed by
Google Play. We verify your purchase receipt with Google
to unlock Pro. We never receive your payment card or billing
details.

Abuse prevention. We use Firebase App Check (Play
Integrity) to confirm requests come from the genuine app and to protect
the service from abuse.
2. Service providers
We rely on Google services to run the app: Google Firebase
(anonymous authentication, database, hosting, App Check), the
Google Gemini API (to analyze images), and
Google Play (to process purchases). Your data is handled by
these providers under their own terms and privacy policies. We do not sell
your data, and we do not use your photos to build advertising profiles.
3. Data retention
Photos are not retained on our servers after processing. Your scan history
lives on your device until you clear it or uninstall the app. Anonymous
usage and entitlement records are kept only as long as needed to operate the
free tier and your subscription.
4. Your choices
- Clear your on-device history any time in Settings.
- Decline location permission and pick your destination manually.
- Manage or cancel subscriptions in Google Play.

5. Children
SnapSensei is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your
country), and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
6. Changes
We may update this policy and will revise the effective date above. Material
changes will be reflected here.
Terms of Service
1. The service
SnapSensei provides AI-generated estimates for general guidance
only. Results may be incomplete or wrong. It is
not a medical, legal, dietary, or safety service, and it
does not certify allergy or ingredient safety. Always
confirm important details — especially allergies, health, payments, and
legal matters — with staff or official sources before acting.
2. Acceptable use
You agree to use the app lawfully and not to misuse, overload, reverse
engineer, or attempt to abuse the service or its backend. We may limit or
suspend access to protect the service.
3. Free tier and subscriptions

The app offers a limited number of free scans per day. Pro removes that
limit.

7-day pass — a one-time purchase that grants Pro for 7
days. It does not auto-renew; you may buy it again.

Monthly Pro — an auto-renewing subscription.
It renews automatically each month through Google Play until you cancel.
Cancel any time in Google Play → Subscriptions; cancellation takes effect
at the end of the current period.

Prices are shown in the app and at the point of purchase and may vary by
region. Purchases are subject to the
Google Play Terms of Service, which govern billing,
renewals, and refunds.
4. No warranty
The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any
kind. We do not guarantee that results are accurate, complete, or suitable
for any particular purpose.
5. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, code vibe is not liable for any
indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or
reliance on, the app or its results.
6. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Japan, without regard to conflict-of-law
rules, except where mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of
residence apply.
